महिला रेलवे सुरक्षा बल (RPF) कर्मी मिर्च स्प्रे कैन से होगी लैस

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस के अवसर पर, भारतीय रेलवे ने महिला रेलवे सुरक्षा बल (RPF) कर्मियों को मिर्च स्प्रे कैन से लैस करने का निर्णय लिया है।

यह गैर-घातक लेकिन प्रभावी उपकरण महिला आरपीएफ कर्मियों को चुनौतीपूर्ण परिस्थितियों से निपटने में मदद करेगा, विशेष रूप से उन मामलों में जहां वे अकेली यात्रा कर रही महिला यात्रियों या बच्चों के साथ यात्रा कर रही महिलाओं की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित कर रही हों।

यह पहल भारतीय रेलवे की लैंगिक समावेशन, महिला सशक्तिकरण और सुरक्षा में सुधार की प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाती है। मिर्च स्प्रे कैन से लैस होकर, महिला आरपीएफ कर्मी खतरों को रोकने, उत्पीड़न की घटनाओं का जवाब देने और आपात स्थितियों को प्रभावी ढंग से संभालने में सक्षम होंगी। यह विशेष रूप से उन संवेदनशील स्थानों में उपयोगी होगा, जैसे कि सुनसान स्टेशन, चलती ट्रेनें और दूरस्थ रेलवे क्षेत्र, जहां तत्काल समर्थन उपलब्ध नहीं हो सकता।

इस पहल का समर्थन करते हुए रेलवे सुरक्षा बल के महानिदेशक श्री मनोज यादव ने कहा, “यह पहल प्रधानमंत्री के महिला सशक्तिकरण और सार्वजनिक स्थानों को सुरक्षित बनाने के दृष्टिकोण के अनुरूप है। भारतीय रेलवे लगातार महिलाओं की यात्रा को सुरक्षित और सुविधाजनक बनाने के लिए कई उपाय कर रहा है। हमारी महिला आरपीएफ कर्मी ताकत, देखभाल और दृढ़ संकल्प का प्रतीक हैं। मिर्च स्प्रे कैन से लैस करके, हम उनकी आत्मविश्वास और कार्यक्षमता को बढ़ा रहे हैं, साथ ही यह स्पष्ट संदेश दे रहे हैं कि यात्रियों की सुरक्षा, विशेष रूप से महिलाओं की सुरक्षा, हमारी सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता है।”

महिला आरपीएफ कर्मियों की भूमिका सिर्फ सुरक्षा तक सीमित नहीं है। वे संकटग्रस्त महिला यात्रियों की सहायता भी करती हैं, जिनमें वे गर्भवती महिलाएं भी शामिल हैं जो ट्रेन यात्रा के दौरान प्रसव पीड़ा में चली जाती हैं। ‘ऑपरेशन मातृशक्ति’ के तहत, 2024 में अब तक महिला आरपीएफ कर्मियों ने ट्रेनों में 174 महिलाओं की सुरक्षित प्रसूति में मदद की है, जिसमें उनकी गोपनीयता, गरिमा और समय पर चिकित्सा सहायता सुनिश्चित की गई।

महिला सुरक्षा के लिए रेलवे द्वारा उठाए गए कई प्रभावी कदमों में महिला आरपीएफ कर्मियों की संख्या में वृद्धि भी शामिल है। आज, आरपीएफ में महिलाओं की संख्या 9% है, जो कि किसी भी केंद्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बल (CAPF) में सबसे अधिक है। इनमें से कई महिलाएं ‘मेरी सहेली’ टीम का हिस्सा हैं, जिनका मुख्य उद्देश्य महिला यात्रियों की सुरक्षित यात्रा सुनिश्चित करना है। 250 से अधिक ‘मेरी सहेली’ टीमों द्वारा प्रतिदिन लगभग 12,900 महिला यात्रियों से बातचीत कर सुरक्षा और आश्वासन प्रदान किया जाता है।

महाकुंभ जैसे बड़े आयोजनों के दौरान, महिला आरपीएफ कर्मियों ने अपने पुरुष सहयोगियों के साथ मिलकर हजारों महिला श्रद्धालुओं को सहायता प्रदान की, जो प्रयागराज में पवित्र स्नान के लिए आई थीं।

मिर्च स्प्रे कैन के साथ, महिला आरपीएफ कर्मी सशक्तिकरण, करुणा और दृढ़ संकल्प का प्रतीक बनेंगी, जिससे भारतीय रेलवे की महिलाओं की सुरक्षित यात्रा सुनिश्चित करने की प्रतिबद्धता और मजबूत होगी।

Women Shoulder the Responsibility of Safety, Operations, and Leadership in Indian Railways

New Delhi: On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2025, Indian Railways celebrated with grandeur, enthusiasm, and pride, reinforcing its commitment to women’s empowerment. Various inspiring programs were organized across the country to honor the contributions, hard work, and achievements of female employees. Whether it was women loco pilots operating trains, station management, ticket counters, ticket inspection, international-level sports, engineering, or Railway Protection Force (RPF) deployment—Indian Railways’ women workforce has demonstrated excellence and leadership in every field.

Operation of All-Women Trains

Several trains were operated entirely by female staff on this special occasion. The Vande Bharat Express from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Sainagar Shirdi was run by an all-women crew. In Delhi, an all-women freight train was launched from Safdarjung railway station. Similarly, the KSR Bengaluru–Mysuru Malgudi Express and Mysuru–Jaipur Express were also operated by women from the Bengaluru division. Additionally, Bhopal–Bilaspur Express and Bundelkhand Express in the Jhansi division were also managed by female railway staff.

Women’s Participation in Station Operations

At Sealdah station, the ‘Matribhumi Local’ (Ladies Special EMU) train was operated entirely by women. The management of Gorakhpur Junction was also handled by women. In Maharashtra, Matunga station and in Rajasthan, Gandhinagar railway station were also entirely managed by women. Furthermore, the Northeast Frontier Railway’s Alipurduar division announced that Cooch Behar Railway Station (COB) will be fully operated under female leadership.

Honoring Female Employees

Women loco pilots, train managers, ticket-checking staff, and other female employees were honored across different railway zones for their exceptional contributions. Northern and Southern Railways held special award ceremonies to recognize outstanding female employees. Meanwhile, in West Central Railway’s Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Kota divisions, appreciation certificates were presented to women employees for their excellence.

As part of awareness and wellness initiatives, Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai organized quiz competitions, yoga sessions, and mental health programs. Western Railway released a special podcast episode titled ‘Nothing is Impossible’, featuring the inspiring journey of Asia’s first female motorwoman. East Coast Railway conducted yoga and wellness counseling sessions for women. Several railway stations were also decorated with special lighting in honor of women.

Special Initiatives for Women Employees

Indian Railways announced efforts to further strengthen women help desks, monitoring systems, and safety measures. In the Kota division, self-defense and financial literacy workshops were organized. In the Ratlam division, seminars on cyber fraud and financial awareness were conducted. Meanwhile, the Jabalpur division held a breast cancer screening camp, where over 200 women were examined.

Indian Railways’ Commitment to Gender Equality

Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information & Publicity, Railway Board, stated that Indian Railways is continuously working to promote women’s participation in its operations and strengthen gender equality. Through all-women trains, female-managed stations, and various initiatives, the organization is ensuring that women take leading roles in every sector of the railway industry.

Out of 1.23 million employees in Indian Railways, 113,000 are women. Currently, over 2,000 women serve as loco pilots, and nearly 1,900 women hold positions as station managers.

The programs conducted on International Women’s Day 2025 showcased the significant role and leadership capabilities of women in Indian Railways. This event was not just a celebration but a strong step towards gender equality and

women’s empowerment.
