Railwaymen saved passenges life, Heroes in Uniform: RPSF Bravehearts Honoured for Saving a Life at Rail Bhawan

 

Sri Rakesh Kumar Pandey Sr CC/TC / HWH(S)/Kharagpur Division showcased exceptional bravery during his duty in train no 12814. On 28.12.24 at approximately 06.15 hrs ,one passenger attempted to board the 12814 Steel Express when the train just started moving from Tatanagar station. One passenger lost his balance and fell into the gap between the train and the platform.
Sri Rakesh Kumar Pandey immediately sprang into action, pulling the passenger to safety and averted a potential tragedy.
Then Sri Rakesh Kumar Pandey and Sri Vinay Kumar Chaudhary TTI/HWH(S)/ Kharagpur Division given the passenger necessary first aid . The swift and courageous action of
both the ticket checking staff saved a precious life . Their actions exemplified the dedication of railway staff towards the comfort and safety of passengers.

 

SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY CELEBRATES 69th RAILWAY WEEK

 

 

South Eastern Railway celebrated the 69th Railway Week-Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar, 2024 at Kolkata on 26.12.2024.

Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Shri Soumitra Majumdar, Addl. General Manager, Shri Surinder Pal, Senior Deputy General Manager along with all Principal Head of the Departments attended the function.

Altogether, 82 selected railway officers & staff were felicitatedin recognition of their outstanding services and devotion to duty during the year 2023-24. Total 32 Efficiency Shields were also presented to the Divisions/Units.

 

The Overall Efficiency Shield was awarded to Adra Division for the best all round performance. Efficiency Shields in other categories were also awarded to different divisions, workshops and stations. Ranchi and Bokaro Steel City Railway stations jointly have been adjudged as the Best Kept Station.

Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager while addressing the gathering mentioned about S E Railway’s achievements in freight and passenger sectors. He complimented the railway employees for their sincere efforts and commendable performance in spite of different challenges. South Eastern Railway has increased the loading by 4.44% by loading 211.60 million tonnes in 2023-24 and the freight loading till the month of November in this financial year 2024-25 is 139 million tonnes, which is about 2% more than the same period in the year 2023-24. Originating Freight Earning in the financial year 2023-24 is Rs 19,326 crore which is 5.97% more than in the financial year 2022-23. Originating Freight Earning so far this year till November 2024 is Rs 12,709 crore, which is about 2.6% more than the same period of the year 2023-24.

General Manager laid maximum emphasis on ensuring safety in train operations. He mentioned to achieve the targets set by the Railway Board this year, the last quarter of this financial year is very crucial for all of us and we need to work with dedication and focus. He advised the railway employees to make all out efforts to attain the satisfaction of passengers and freight customers. He also appreciated the cooperation extended by the different Associations and Trade Unions.

 

During the programme, a colourful cultural show was presented by the Headquarters Cultural Team.

Heroes in Uniform: RPSF Bravehearts Honoured for Saving a Life at Rail Bhawan

 

The Director General of the Railway Protection Force, Shri Manoj Yadava, today felicitated Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) Constables KuldeepRajesh Saini and Shivraj of A/Coy 14BN for their exemplary courage and quick response during a tragic incident near Rail Bhawan on Christmas Day. At a ceremony held at Rail Bhawan, each of the three personnel was awarded ₹4,000 in cash along with Commendation Certificates for their outstanding actions.

Speaking at the event, DG RPF praised their bravery, stating, “In the face of a dire emergency, these constables demonstrated extraordinary courage, presence of mind and a profound sense of duty. Their actions showcased the spirit of service and humanity at the core of the RPF’s mission.”

The incident unfolded on December 25 at approximately 3:15 PM, in front of Parliament Gate near the roundabout, close to the Rail Bhawan building in New Delhi. A man in his 30s, later identified as Jitendra Kumar from Baghpat, set himself on fire near the park in the roundabout and when engulfed in flames, he ran towards the Parliament area.

Stationed at Gate-6 of Rail Bhawan for security duty, RPSF Constables Kuldeep, Rajesh Saini and Shivraj went beyond the call of duty and immediately sprang into action. With remarkable presence of mind, they utilized two blankets available at the gate to extinguish the flames, with assistance from nearby pedestrians. Their quick response minimized risks to bystanders and prevented the situation from escalating further.

The severely injured man, suffering extensive burns, was promptly attended to by police authorities, including the SHO/Kartavya Path and Parliament Street, who arrived at the scene with their team. The victim was transported to RML Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Senior officials, including the DCP and ACP of New Delhi, later inspected the site.

The Railway Protection Force remains committed to the safety and well-being of citizens, and the courage displayed by its personnel serves as a shining example of their unwavering dedication to duty.
