केवल 51 फीसदी भारतीय स्नातक ही रोजगार के योग्य: नीति आयोग के पूर्व सीईओ श्री अमिताभ कांत, चंद्रयान 3 से हम सभी गौरवान्वित: डॉ. एस पी सोमनाथ, अध्यक्ष इसरो

 

18 अगस्त, 2024, पश्चिम बंगाल, भारत: जैसे ही देश अपनी आजादी के 78वें वर्ष में प्रवेश कर रहा है, आईआईटी खड़गपुर भी 18 अगस्त 2024 को अपनी स्थापना के 74वें वर्ष में प्रवेश कर रहा है, भारत के जी-20 शेरपा और नीति आयोग के पूर्व सीईओ श्री अमिताभ कांत मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में इस अवसर पर उपस्थित थे। डॉ. एस पी सोमनाथ, अध्यक्ष इसरो; डॉ. समीर वी कामत, अध्यक्ष, डीआरडीओ और डॉ. सोनल मानसिंह, पद्म विभूषण पुरस्कार विजेता और पूर्व सांसद, राज्यसभा भी इस अवसर पर सम्मानित अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित थे। मुख्य भवन पर राष्ट्रीय ध्वज एवं संस्थान ध्वज फहराकर मंगलाचरण प्रारंभ हुआ। सम्मानित गीतिन्द्र सरन सान्याल फैकल्टी एक्सीलेंस अवार्ड्स, यंग एलुमनी अचीवर्स अवार्ड्स, स्टाफ एक्सीलेंस अवार्ड्स और 25 साल की सेवा पूरी करने वाले संस्थान के कर्मचारियों को सम्मानित किया गया।

नवाचारों, तकनीकी विकास, अनुसंधान, सामुदायिक कल्याण, नेतृत्व, उद्यमिता, सामाजिक प्रभाव, राष्ट्र निर्माण, राष्ट्रीय हित और पेशेवर उपलब्धियों में उत्कृष्टता का सम्मान करते हुए आईआईटी खड़गपुर के 32 युवा पूर्व छात्रों को यंग एलुमनी अचीवर अवार्ड दिया गया।

30 स्टाफ उत्कृष्टता पुरस्कारों के साथ कुल 09 संकाय उत्कृष्टता पुरस्कार। कुल 74 कर्मचारियों को संस्थान में उनकी निर्बाध 25 वर्षों की सेवा के लिए सम्मानित किया गया। फ्लोटिंग सोलर पीवी टेक्नोलॉजी की तकनीक विकसित करने के लिए आईआईटी गुवाहाटी में श्री पंकज कुमार और श्री सिद्धांत अग्रवाल को नीना सक्सेना एक्सीलेंस इन टेक्नोलॉजी अवार्ड 2024 से सम्मानित किया गया।

भारत के जी-20 शेरपा और आईआईटी खड़गपुर के 72वें स्थापना दिवस के मुख्य अतिथि श्री अमिताभ कांत ने कहा, “बढ़ते भारत के लिए, हमें उच्चतम क्रम के नवाचार की आवश्यकता है जिसके लिए भारत को एक नवाचार केंद्र बनना होगा। इसके बदले में हमें व्यावहारिक अनुसंधान और बाजार उन्मुख नवाचार में निवेश करने की आवश्यकता होगी जिसके लिए हमें अकादमिक-अनुसंधान-उद्योग साझेदारी के विशाल निर्माण की आवश्यकता है। हमें प्रयोगशालाओं से बाजारों तक संक्रमण के लिए प्रोटोटाइपिंग और परीक्षण के साथ नवाचार, बुनियादी ढांचे की प्रतिभा का निर्माण करने की भी आवश्यकता है। शुरुआती वर्षों में हमने जो गलतियाँ कीं, वह बाहर अनुसंधान संस्थान स्थापित करना था जो बाहर स्वतंत्र थे, लेकिन भविष्य के सभी शोध आईआईटी खड़गपुर जैसे शैक्षणिक संस्थानों का हिस्सा होने चाहिए। सभी सीएसआईआर/डीएसआईआर संस्थानों को शैक्षणिक संस्थानों से जोड़ा जाना चाहिए। दुनिया में सभी नवाचार शैक्षणिक संस्थानों से होते हैं जहां प्रोफेसर और छात्र एक साथ काम करते हैं, इसी तरह सिलिकॉन वैली का निर्माण हुआ। उद्योग उन्मुख कौशल आईआईटी खड़गपुर जैसे संस्थानों से आना चाहिए और आगे नवाचार और अनुसंधान आईआईटी अनुसंधान से आना चाहिए। उच्च गुणवत्ता वाले पेटेंट भारत के लिए बड़े प्रतिस्पर्धात्मक लाभ का कारण बन सकते हैं और भारत को बाजार में अग्रणी बना सकते हैं क्योंकि पेटेंट को व्यावसायिक रूप से व्यवहार्य नवाचार की ओर ले जाना चाहिए। सभी पेटेंटों को व्यावसायिक नवाचार की ओर ले जाना चाहिए। हमें वैज्ञानिक और सार्वजनिक नवाचार को भी बढ़ाना होगा। भारत रिटर्न की तुलना में बौद्धिक संपदा रॉयल्टी (आईपीआर) में कहीं अधिक भुगतान कर रहा है। हमारे पास भारत में 24000 पीएचडी स्नातक हैं, अमेरिका में 68000 डॉक्टरेट स्नातक हैं। आर्थिक सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार केवल 51.25% भारतीय स्नातक ही रोजगार के योग्य समझे जाते हैं। इसलिए, हम इसके लिए जिम्मेदार हैं कि जो भी हम शैक्षणिक संस्थानों से पैदा करते हैं, वह न केवल रोजगार योग्य होना चाहिए, बल्कि अत्यधिक नवोन्वेषी होना चाहिए और एक प्रर्वतक होना चाहिए और समाज को इस तरह से बाधित करना चाहिए जैसा कि समाज ने पहले कभी नहीं देखा है, हमें कई और संस्थान बनाने की जरूरत है इसरो और डीआरडीओ की तरह जो यह सुनिश्चित करेगा कि हमारे रक्षा आयात को शून्य पर लाया जाए और हम अंतरिक्ष उद्यमियों के साथ दुनिया के अग्रणी निर्यातक बनें। सरकार ने कई पहल की हैं, इसने नवाचार को बढ़ावा दिया है, कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता, क्वांटम कंप्यूटिंग पर एक नया मिशन, सेमी-कंडक्टर के लिए 76000 करोड़ की योजना और हरित हाइड्रोजन के लिए 25000 करोड़ की योजना को आगे बढ़ाया है; भारत में उत्पादन से जुड़े प्रोत्साहन विनिर्माण पर 1.93 लाख करोड़ रुपये ताकि मेक इन इंडिया और स्टार्ट-अप इंडिया को भारी प्रोत्साहन मिले। बहुत ही कम समय में हम दुनिया के तीसरे सबसे अच्छे स्टार्ट-अप इकोसिस्टम बन गए हैं। अगले 4-5 वर्षों में 5 ट्रिलियन डॉलर की अर्थव्यवस्था बनने के लिए, भारत के लिए चुनौती अपनी प्रति व्यक्ति आय बढ़ाना है जो आईआईटी खड़गपुर जैसे प्रयासों से आ सकती है। आईआईटी खड़गपुर सभी आईआईटी के संस्थापक थे, यह सभी आईआईटी के लिए पिता समान रहे हैं। इसने न केवल भारत के लाखों इंजीनियरों को प्रेरित किया है, बल्कि अन्य सभी आईआईटी को भी उत्कृष्टता का केंद्र बनने के लिए प्रेरित किया है, इसलिए भारत का भविष्य वास्तव में आईआईटी खड़गपुर जैसे संस्थानों के हाथों में है। इसकी ऊर्जा, इसकी जीवंतता, इसकी गतिशीलता आने वाले वर्षों में भारत को आकार देगी।”

डॉ. एसपी सोमनाथ, अध्यक्ष इसरो, “इस अवसर के लिए और मुझे लाइफ अवार्ड के लिए चुनने के लिए बहुत-बहुत धन्यवाद। मैं आपको बताना चाहूंगा कि मैं पूरी तरह से 100% मेड इन इंडिया प्रोडक्ट हूं। मैंने जो कुछ भी किया वह भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन से प्राप्त ज्ञान और कौशल से किया। मैं अपने अल्मा मेटर और टीकेएम कॉलेज ऑफ इंजीनियरिंग, आईआईएससी बैंगलोर और अन्य को धन्यवाद देना चाहता हूं।

मैं इसरो और इस संस्थान में अपने सभी शिक्षकों और गुरुओं को धन्यवाद देता हूं। जिन वर्षों में मैं काम कर रहा था, उनके साथ-साथ पिछले 38 वर्षों में हमारा काम इस संगठन में कुछ क्षमताओं का निर्माण करना रहा है। मैं उन महान लोगों, प्रेरकों, नेताओं के साथ काम करने के लिए भाग्यशाली हूं, जिन्होंने इसरो को आज बनाया है और आज मुझे उनके नक्शेकदम पर चलने और कुछ ऐसे काम करने का अवसर मिला, जिन्होंने चंद्रयान 3 जैसे हम सभी को गौरवान्वित किया। इससे हमें और अधिक साहस मिलता है और भविष्य में बड़े लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने की दिशा में और अधिक काम करने का दृढ़ संकल्प। आप एक संस्थान के रूप में बहुत अच्छा कर रहे हैं और आपसे जुड़ने की क्षमता हम सभी के लिए इसरो और दुनिया और इस देश के अन्य वैज्ञानिक संगठनों के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। इसरो में हम सभी के लिए एक महान दृष्टिकोण है और मैं चाहूंगा कि आप भी इसका हिस्सा बनें और विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में अपनी क्षमता में योगदान दें। हमने अपने लिए जो बड़े लक्ष्य निर्धारित किए हैं, उनके लिए आईआईटी खड़गपुर के संकाय को इसरो के वैज्ञानिकों के साथ जोड़कर मुझे बहुत खुशी होगी। अवसर के लिए बहुत बहुत धन्यवाद.

डॉ. स्मैर वी कामत, अध्यक्ष, डीआरडीओ, “सबसे पहले आपके 74वें स्थापना दिवस पर मेरी ओर से आपको शुभकामनाएं। मैं वास्तव में लाइफ फेलो पुरस्कार से सम्मानित होकर अभिभूत और सम्मानित महसूस कर रहा हूं। जैसा कि आप जानते हैं, मैं इस संस्थान का पूर्व छात्र हूं और यह वास्तव में विशेष है जब आपका संस्थान आपको पहचानता है। मैंने अपने करियर में जो कुछ भी हासिल किया है वह आईआईटी खड़गपुर में मिली मजबूत नींव के कारण है। और मैं कहना चाहता हूं कि यह न केवल वह ज्ञान है जो मैंने यहां प्राप्त किया है, बल्कि यह जीवन कौशल भी है जो मैंने यहां सीखा है, जिसने मुझे अपने करियर में मदद की है। तो जैसा कि डॉ. सोमनाथ ने कहा था कि जब आप इसरो और डीआरडीओ जैसे संगठनों में काम करते हैं, तो फर्क कोई व्यक्ति नहीं डालता। यह एक सामूहिक प्रयास है जो तब किया जाता है जब आपको बड़ी प्रणालियों को साकार करना होता है और आज मैं जहां खड़ा हूं वह सभी सहयोगों और सभी टीम वर्क के कारण है जो कई लोगों ने हमारी उपलब्धियों में योगदान दिया है। जैसा कि डॉ. सोमनाथ ने कहा था, हम देश में बदलाव की दहलीज पर हैं। प्रधान मंत्री ने हमें 2047 तक एक विकसित देश बनने का आह्वान किया है और उन्होंने हमें यह भी आह्वान किया है कि हमें प्रौद्योगिकी नेता बनना चाहिए। और यह तभी हो सकता है जब शिक्षा जगत, उद्योग, अनुसंधान एवं विकास संगठन एक साथ मिलकर काम करें, तालमेल से काम करें और ऐसी नवोन्मेषी प्रौद्योगिकियां विकसित करें जो अत्याधुनिक हों, जो दुनिया में पहली बार हों और मुझे यकीन है, जिस तरह से इस देश में चीजें आगे बढ़ रही हैं, यह सपना है 25 साल पूरे होने से पहले ही हासिल कर लिया जाएगा. इसलिए, मुझे यह लाइफ फेलो अवार्ड देने के लिए आईआईटी खड़गपुर के निदेशक को धन्यवाद, मैं इसे जीवन भर संजो कर रखूंगा।”

प्रोफेसर देबाशीष चक्रवर्ती, डीन एलुमनी अफेयर्स, आईआईटी खड़गपुर ने आईआईटी खड़गपुर के पूर्व छात्रों द्वारा दिए जाने वाले सौंदर्य उपहार गुरुदक्षिणा के बारे में बात की। मेरे अल्मा मेटर के लिए गुरु दक्षिणा संस्थान के पूर्व छात्रों से प्राप्त होगी जो समय के साथ आईआईटी खड़गपुर को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने में मदद करेगी। गुरु दक्षिणा के माध्यम से प्राप्त धनराशि छात्रों द्वारा वसंत महोत्सव, क्षितिज, खेल उत्सव और यहां तक ​​कि हॉल सुविधाओं को बढ़ाने और सुधारने के लिए धन इकट्ठा करने की चुनौती को कम कर देगी। छात्रों के वर्तमान बैच के साथ गुरुदक्षिणा की कुल 34 प्रतिज्ञाएँ प्राप्त हुई हैं। डॉ. वी नारायणन, तरल प्रणोदन प्रणाली केंद्र, इसरो; प्रोफेसर वी के तिवारी, निदेशक, आईआईटी खड़गपुर; प्रोफेसर देबाशीष चक्रवर्ती, डीन एलुमनी अफेयर्स और कमांडर वीके जेटली, अध्यक्ष, सी_क्यूब कंसल्टेंट्स ऐसे दानकर्ता हैं जिन्होंने पहले ही आईआईटी खड़गपुर को गुरुदक्षिणा में अपना योगदान दिया है।

August 18, 2024, West Bengal, India: As the country enters its 78th year of Independence, IIT Kharagpur also enters its 74th year of foundation on 18th August 2024 which was adorned by the eminent personalities. Shri Amitabh Kant, India’s G-20 Sherpa and Former CEO of NITI Aayog graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. S P Somanath, Chairman ISRO; Dr. Samir V Kamat, Chairman, DRDO and Dr. Sonal Mansingh, Padma Vibhshan Awardee and Former MP, Rajya Sabha also graced the occasion as the Guests of Honour. The invocation started by hoisting the national flag and institute flag at the main building. Conferment Gitindra Saran Sanyal Faculty Excellence Awards, Young Alumni Achievers Awards, Staff Excellence Awards, and the institute employees who completed 25 years of service were felicitated.

The Young Alumni Achiever Award was given to 32 young alumni of IIT Kharagpur honouring excellence in innovations, technological developments, research, community welfare, leadership, entrepreneurship, social impact, nation building, national interest and professional accomplishments.

A total of 09 Faculty Excellence Awards, along with 30 Staff Excellence Awards. A total of 74 employees were recognized for their uninterrupted 25 years of service to the Institution. The Nina Saxena Excellence in Technology Award 2024 was awarded to Mr. Pankaj Kumar & Mr. Siddhant Aagrwal at IIT Guwahati for developing the technology of Floating Solar PV Technology.  

Shri Amitabh Kant, India’s G-20 Sherpa and Chief Guest of the 72nd Foundation Day of IIT Kharagpur remarked, “For the growing India, we need innovation of the highest order which would require India to become an Innovation hub. This in turn will require us to invest in applied research and market oriented innovation for which we need a huge build-up of Academia-Research-Industry Partnership. We also need to build innovation, infrastructure talent with prototyping and testing to transition from labs to markets. The mistakes we did in our initial years was to establish research Institutes outside which were independent outside but all future researches should be part of the academic institutions like the IIT Kharagpur. All CSIR/DSIR institutions should be linked to academic institutions. All the innovations in the world happens from the academic institutions where professors and students work together, that is how Silicon Valley was created. Industry oriented skills has to come from institutions like IIT Kharagpur and further innovation and research must come IIT research. High quality patents can lead to huge competitive advantage for India and make India a market leader because patents must lead to commercially viable innovation. All patents must lead to commercial innovation. We also have to enhance the scientific and public innovation. India is paying much more in Intellectual Property Royalties (IPR) than in returns. We have 24000 PhD graduates in India, the US produces 68000 doctoral graduated. According to the economic survey only 51.25% of the Indian graduates are deemed employable. So, we are responsible for whoever we produce from the academic institutions must not only be employable but should be highly innovative and should be an innovator and should disrupt society in a manner that the society has ever seen before, We need to create many more institutions like ISRO and DRDO which will ensure that our defence imports are brought to zero and we become the world’s leading exporter with space entrepreneurs. The government has taken several initiatives, it has pushed for innovation, a new mission on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, pushed for 76000 crore scheme for semi-conductors and 25000 crore scheme for green hydrogen; 1.93 lakh crores on production linked incentive manufacturing in India so that Make in India & Start-up India receives huge impetus. In a very short time we have become the 3rd best start-up ecosystem in the world. To become the 5 trillion dollar economy in the next 4-5 years, the challenge for India is to raise its per capita income which can come from intuitions like IIT Kharagpur. IIT Kharagpur was the founder of all IITs, it has been the father figure to all IITs. It has not only inspired million of engineers in India but also inspired all other IITs to become the centre of excellence so the future of India is truly in the hands of Institutions like IIT Kharagpur. Its energy, its vitality, its dynamism will shape India in the years to come.”

Dr. S P Somanath, Chairman ISRO, “Thank you so much for this opportunity and selecting me for the Life Award. I would like to tell you that I am totally 100% made in India product. Whatever I did was from the knowledge and skill I acquired from the Indian Space Research Organization. I would like to thank my alma mater and TKM College of Engineering, IISc Bangalore and others. I thank all my teachers and gurus in ISRO and this institutions. Our work has been in building certain capabilities in this organization in the last 38 years along with the years I was working. I am fortunate to work with great people, motivators, leaders, who made ISRO what it is today and had the opportunity to follow their footsteps today and do certain works that made all of us proud like the Chandrayaan 3. This gives us more courage and determination to work more towards achieving greater goals in the future. Whatever you are doing great as an institution and the ability to connect with you is very important for all of us is ISRO and other scientific organizations in the world and in this country. There is a great vision ahead for all of us in ISRO and I will like you to be a part of it as well, contributing in you capability in different domains. I would be more than happy to connect the faculty of IIT Kharagpur with the scientist in ISRO for greater goals that we have set for ourselves. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

Dr. Smair V kamat, Chairman, DRDO, “At the outset my greetings to you on your 74th Foundation Day. I am indeed humbled and honoured by this conferment of the Life Fellow Award. As you are aware, I am the Alumni of this institute and it is indeed special when you alma mater recognizes you. Whatever little I have achieved in my career is because of the strong foundation that I got in IIT Kharagpur. And let me say it is not only the knowledge I gained here but it is the life skills that I learnt here which has helped me in my career. So as Dr. Somanath said that when you work in organizations like ISRO and DRDO, it is not individuals who make the difference. It is a collective effort which goes in when you have to realize large systems and where I am standing today is because of all the collaborations and all the team work that several people contributed in achievements that we made. As Dr. Somanath said we are on the threshold of a transformation in the nation. The Prime Minister has given us a call to become a developed country by 2047 and he has also given us a call that we should become a technology leader. And this can only happen if academia, industry, R&D organizations work together, work in synergy and develop innovative technologies which are cutting edge, which are first in the world and I am sure, the way things are going forward in this country, this dream will be achieved even before 25 years are complete. So, thank the Director of IIT Kharagpur for granting me this Life Fellow Award, I will cherish this for the rest of my life.”

Prof. Debashish Chakravarty, Dean Alumni Affairs, IIT Kharagpur talked about Gurudakshina, an aesthetic giveaway by the Alumni of IIT Kharagpur. Guru Dakshina for my Alma Mater will be received from the Alumni of the institute which will help in making IIT Kharagpur self-reliant over a period of time. The funds received through Guru Dakshina shall alleviate the challenge of collecting funds by the students for Spring Festival, Kshitij, Sports Fest and even for increasing and improving hall amenities. Total 34 Pledges of Gurudakshina has been received with the current batch of students.
