Arrangements done by Kharagpur Division to assist the stranded passengers

A power and traffic block program from May 30, 2024, to July 4,2024, in the Howrah area for Chandmari ROB work was earlier communicated by Eastern Railway, which has been further extended until July 12, 2024. As a result of this, train services are being regulated, and at night, the trains destined for Howrah areb eing short-terminated at Santragachi station.

It has come to the attention of the railway administration that, due to the lack of sufficient public transportation and the shortage of

cabs, touts are exorbitantly charging the alighted passengers at such late hours. To assist the passengers and to avoid further

inconvenience to them, the railway administration and the Commercial Department of Kharagpur division have made various

arrangements for the stranded passengers at Santragachi station.Dedicated shuttle bus services have been arranged at no cost between Santragachi and Howrah to ensure the smooth movement of deboarded passengers. Shuttle buses are being run as per the

arrival times of short-terminated trains. Commercial inspectorsand ticket-checking staff are deputed along with RPF personnel tocurb instances of overcharging by cabs during the night. Regular

announcements regarding this shuttle service are being made a tSantragachi Station to assist the deboarding passengers.

Apart from this, announcements at intermediate stations are also being made to inform the boarding passengers at those stations regarding the short termination. Passengers are also being informed through SMS and social media posts regarding the

rescheduling or short-term termination of trains at Santragachi due to the power and traffic block.
