GROWTH IN SER’s FREIGHT LOADING PERFORMANCE

South Eastern Railway has loaded 34.91 Million Tonnes of originating freight in the first two months (April-May) of the current financial year 2024-25. South Eastern Railway achieved record freight loading of 211.60 Million tonnes in the last financial year (i.e.2023-24) and this increasing trend is also continuing during the current fiscal.
SER has loaded 18.05 Million Tonnes of Iron ore during April-May, 2024, which is 3.85% more than the corresponding month of last fiscal. SER has also loaded 8.96 Million Tonnes of Coal during this period, which is 2.17% more than the corresponding months of last fiscal. Other major commodities of freight loading were Pig Iron & Finished Steel, Cement, Food grains, Fertilizers etc.
There has also been an increase of 2.98% in originating freight revenue in April-May, 2024 in comparison to the same period of 2023. During April-May, 2024, the revenue generation from originating freight loading has been Rs 3166.66 crore as against Rs. 3076.13 crore in the same month of the previous year.
