Indian Railways operates Record Number of additional Trains in Summer Season 2024
During this summer season, 9111 trips will be operational to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for the passengers

 Delhi, To ensure the convenience of passengers and manage the anticipated surge in travel demand during summers, Indian Railways is operating a record-breaking 9111 trips during summer season.

This marks a substantial rise compared to the summer of 2023, where a total of 6369 trips were offered. This translates to an increase of 2742 trips, demonstrating Indian Railways’ commitment to meeting passenger demands effectively.

The additional trains have been meticulously planned to connect key destinations across the country, ensuring seamless travel on major railway routes. All zonal railways spread across India have geared up to operate these additional trips, catering to the summer travel rush from states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi.

South Eastern Railway is presently running the following Summer Special Trains towards different directions:

Planning and running of additional trains is a continuous process for which inputs are taken from all the communication channels 24x 7 like media reports, Social media platforms, Railway Integrated helpline number 139, apart from details of waitlist passengers in PRS system, to assess demand of trains on a particular route. Based on this requirement, number of trains and number of trips are augmented. Neither the number of trains nor the number of trips run by additional train(s) is static for the entire season.

During the summer season, Zonal Railways have been instructed to ensure availability of drinking water at Railway stations. Elaborate crowd control arrangements are made at all major and important railway stations. Senior officers are stationed at these stations to monitor all the activities to regulate the crowd in a systematic manner.

RPF personnel have been deputed at originating stations to ensure Queue system for entry in General Class coaches. Skilled RPF staffs are deployed in CCTV Control Room to keep a close watch on the crowded areas and render real time assistance to passengers.

Government Railway Police (GRP) & Railway Protection Force (RPF) staffs are deployed at foot-over bridges to regulate crowd smoothly in order to avoid stampede like situation during the heavy rush period.

Indian Railways remain committed to providing a convenient and comfortable travel experience for all passengers. Passengers can book their ticket in these additional trains through Railway Ticket counters or IRCTC website/app.

DIRECTOR GENRAL/SAFETY, RAILWAY BOARD HELD SAFETY REVIEW MEETING WITH GENERAL MANAGER/SER

 

Kolkata, 19th April, 2024

 

Shri Braj Mohan Agrawal, Director General/Safety, Railway Board held a high level Safety Review Meeting with Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway at SER Headquarters on 19.04.2024. Shri Agrawal said that safety is to be given utmost priority in Railways and laid emphasis on zero tolerance in safety related issues. General Manager, SER apprised him about several safety measures adopted by the Zone. Executive Director (Safety), Engineering/Railway Board, Principal Head of the Departments and other senior officers were also present during the meeting.

 

In the morning, DG/Safety conducted Window trailing inspection from Shalimar to Kharagpur and monitored the safety aspects over the section. Later, after arrival at Kharagpur he inspected the Crew Lobby and interacted with the Loco Pilots, Assistant Loco Pilots and Trackmen. He has given some valuable inputs regarding safety in train operations. Shri K.R. Chaudhary, Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur and other Senior officers of Kharagpur Division were present during the inspection.

SUMMER SPECIAL TRAINS

 

Kolkata, 19th April, 2024

 

Keeping in view the extra rush of the passengers during summer, it has been decided to run more Summer Special Trains as per the following schedule:

 

03465/03466 Malda Town-Digha-Malda Town Special

 

03465 Malda Town-Digha Special will leave Malda Town every Saturday from 20.04.2024 to 29.06.2024 at 13.25 hrs and will arrive Digha at 02.00 hrs, the next day. In the return direction, 03466 Digha-Malda Town Special will leave Digha every Sunday from 21.04.2024 to 30.06.2024 at 05.00 hrs and will reach Malda Town at 18.00 hrs, the same day.

 

The Special train will have stoppages at Adra, Bankura,Bishnupur, Midnapore, Kharagpur, Panskura, Tamluk and Kanthi in South Eastern Railway jurisdiction.

 

08624/08623 Ranchi-Islampur-Ranchi Special

 

08624 Ranchi-Islampur Special will leave Ranchi every Saturday from 27.04.2024 to 29.06.2024 at 08.20 hrs and will arrive Islampur at 19.10 hrs, the same day. In the return direction, 08623 Islampur-Ranchi Special will leave Islampur every Saturday from 27.04.2024 to 29.06.2024 at 21.50 hrs and will reach Ranchi at 09.30 hrs, the next day.

 

The Special train will have stoppages at Muri and Bokaro Steel City in South Eastern Railway jurisdiction.

 

08014/08013 Ranchi-Bhagalpur-Ranchi Special

 

08014 Ranchi-Bhagalpur Special will leave Ranchi every Thursday from 25.04.2024 to 27.06.2024 at 23.25 hrs and will arrive Bhagalpur at 12.00 hrs, the next day. In the return direction, 08013 Bhagalpur-Ranchi Special will leave Bhagalpur every Friday from 26.04.2024 to 28.06.2024 at 14.30 hrs and will reach Ranchi at 03.30 hrs, the next day.

 

The Special train will have stoppages at Muri and Bokaro Steel City in South Eastern Railway jurisdiction.
