HELD MEETING WITH GENERAL MANAGER OF SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY

 

Kolkata, 1st December, 2023:

 

Hon’ble Members of Parliament (both from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) of the Divisional Committee comprising of Kharagpur and Adra Divisions of SER held a meeting with Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway  at Kolkata today (01.12.2023).  Altogether 12 Hon’ble MPs attended the meeting. The Divisional Committee Meeting was chaired by Shri Dilip Ghosh,  Hon’ble Member of Parliament.

Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Shri Bishweswar Tudu, Hon’ble Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs, Shri Sisir Kumar Adhikari, Hon’ble MP, Shri Prasun Banerjee, Hon’ble MP, Shri Dibyendu Adhikari, Hon’ble MP, Shri Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Hon’ble MP, Shri Kunar Hembram, Hon’ble MP, Shri Pashupati Nath Singh, Hon’ble MP, Shri Sunil Kumar Mondal, Hon’ble MP, Shri Jyotirmay Singh Mahato, Hon’ble MP and Shri Chandra Prakash Choudhary, Hon’ble MP were also present at the meeting.

Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway welcomed the Hon’ble Members of Parliament and thanked them for their consistent support and cooperation. The General Manager apprised the Hon’ble MPs of the performance of South Eastern Railway, both in freight and passenger sector for the current financial year. He also highlighted the services in respect of passenger amenities and upgradation of stations under Amrit Station Scheme.

 

During the session, Hon’ble MPs advised the railway authority o­n various issues associated with train services, stoppages, cleanliness, expeditious completion of railway projects etc. for the benefit of the passengers. Hon’ble MPs laid emphasis o­n several passenger amenity works at different stations.  They have requested for new trains, new stoppages of existing trains, provision of new Halt stations, upgradation of existing Halt stations etc. Discussions were held o­n introduction of Vande Bharat trains, construction and completion of new lines, Road overbridges, underpass, increase in frequency of trains, extension of service, up-gradation of stations etc. They have also offered their valuable suggestions for development of railway infrastructure over Kharagpur and Adra Division.

 

General Manager stated that the suggestions offered by the Hon’ble MPs for development of passenger amenities and railway infrastructure would be reviewed with paramount importance. Hon’ble MPs appreciated the overall performance of SER and assured their cooperation for the smooth functioning of the railway.

Shri K.R.Chaudhary, Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur, Shri  Sumit Narula, Divisional Railway Manager, Adra and Principal Head of the Departments of South Eastern Railway also attended the meeting.

খড়গপুর এবং আদ্রা রেলওয়ে ডিভিশনের সকল সাংসদদের নিয়ে বাৎসরিক সাধারণ সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হল তাজ বেঙ্গলে। সেখানে সাংসদরা নিজেদের এলাকার রেলওয়ে সংক্রান্ত সমস্যা নিয়ে কথা বলেন। সেই অনুযায়ী রেলওয়ে ব্যবস্থা নেয় এবং তার পরের বারের মিটিংয়ে তার রিপোর্টিং হয়। আজ মিটিংয়ে আমিও আমার এলাকার সমস্যাগুলি তুলে ধরলাম। আমি এই কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান হিসেবে বলতে পারি রেলওয়ের ভূমিকা আগের থেকে অনেক সন্তোষজনক। প্রায় সমস্ত স্টেশনগুলোতে লিফট এবং এস্কালেটর বসানোর ফলে লক্ষ লক্ষ মানুষ এবং বিশেষ করে বয়স্ক-দিব্যঙ্গদের সুবিধা হয়েছে।।

Indian Railways achieves 1015.6 MT freight loading till November 2023

  • Freight loading increases by 36.9 MT as compared to the same period of last year
  • Railways earns Rs 110007.5 Crores from Freight loading during April- November 2023
  • Freight Earnings increases by Rs 4102.4 Crores as compared to the same period last year
  • Railways achieves Freight Loading of 128.4 MT in November 2023- an improvement of 4.3% over last year’s freight loading for the same period

On cumulative basis from April – November 2023, freight loading of 1015.669 MT was achieved by Indian Railways against last year’s loading of 978.724 MT, an improvement of approximate 36.945 MT over last year’s loading for the same period. Railways have earned Rs 110007.5 crore against Rs 105905.1 crore over the last year which is an improvement of approx Rs 4102.445 Crore as compared to the same period of the last year.

During the month of November 2023, originating freight loading of 128.419 MT has been achieved against loading of 123.088 MT in November 2022, which is an improvement of about 4.33% over the last year. Freight revenue of Rs. 14077.94 Crores has been achieved in November 2023 against Rs 13559.83 Cr freight earnings in November 2022, thereby showing an improvement of about 3.82% over the last year.

Indian Railways achieved loading of 65.48 MT in Coal, 14.99 MT in Iron Ore, 5.25 MT in Pig Iron and Finished Steel, 5.58 MT in Cement (Excl. Clinker), 4.61 MT in Clinker, 3.82 MT in Foodgrains, 5.97 MT in Fertilizers, 4.176 MT in Mineral Oil, 6.91 MT in Containers and 8.59 MT in Balance Other Goods during November, 2023.

Following the Mantra, “Hungry For Cargo”, IR has made sustained efforts to improve the ease of doing business as well as improve the service delivery at competitive prices. The customer centric approach and work of Business Development Units backed up by agile policy making helped Railways towards this significant achievement.
