One of its kind, National Digital Library of India (NDLI) at IIT Kharagpur organised an international symposium titled “Digital Libraries: Sustainable Development in Education (DLSDE)” from 20th to 22nd November, 2023. Prof. Venkappayya R. Desai, Director, IIT Dharwad inaugurate this symposium on 20th November, 2023, at the Kalidas Auditorium, IIT Kharagpur. This international symposium aims to bring together experts, educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from around the world to discuss the role of digital libraries in promoting equitable and sustainable development in education.
With more than 100 million content and 2.5 – 3.5 Lakhs daily content view/download, the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a project sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. Conceptualized and implemented by IIT Kharagpur, it is one of the most important initiatives for the progress of the government’s National Mission in Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI is a single window platform providing learning resources, that make e-learning and education accessible to all. It brings digital repositories from India and the world to users of all demographics. The portal of this “Paperless Professor,” was initiated as a Pilot project (NDLI Ph-I) in April 2015. The NDLI Portal (https://ndl.gov.in) or (https://ndl.iitkgp.ac.in) was launched nationally on 19th June, 2018.
As the president and organizer of the G20 summit, India acknowledges the importance of leveraging digital technologies and knowledge resources to address global challenges and promote inclusive education. With this symposium, NDLI aims to contribute to the global dialogue on leveraging digital resources for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education). The NDLI Symposium is an event of great importance, serving as a platform for the dissemination of knowledge, the exchange of ideas, and the promotion of digital libraries in academia. The goal is to promote the importance of digital libraries, share best practices and experiences, foster international collaboration, showcase India’s G20 Vision, identify challenges and propose solutions.
NDLI has extended invitations to researchers, scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to submit their papers for presentation at this international symposium on the following five themes that includes Digital Libraries for Accessible Education, Digital Literacy and Skills Development, Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Access, Technology and Innovation in Digital Libraries and Policy and Governance for Digital Libraries.

खड़गपुर, अपनी तरह की अनूठी, आईआईटी खड़गपुर में नेशनल डिजिटल लाइब्रेरी ऑफ इंडिया (एनडीएलआई) की ओर से 20 से 22 नवंबर तक “डिजिटल लाइब्रेरी: शिक्षा में सतत विकास (डीएलएसडीई)” शीर्षक से एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय संगोष्ठी हुई जिसका उद्घाटन प्रोफेसर वेंकप्पय्या आर. देसाई, निदेशक, आईआईटी धारवाड़ ने कालिदास सभागार, आईआईटी खड़गपुर में किया। आयोजक बी सूत्रधर ने बताया कि इस अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संगोष्ठी का उद्देश्य शिक्षा में न्यायसंगत और सतत विकास को बढ़ावा देने में डिजिटल पुस्तकालयों की भूमिका पर चर्चा करने के लिए दुनिया भर के विशेषज्ञों, शिक्षकों, शोधकर्ताओं, नीति निर्माताओं को एक साथ लाना है।
