PM Narendra Modi’s record investment in developmental projects of Railways
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today approved Seven projects of Ministry of Railways with estimated cost of around Rs.32,500 Crore, with 100% funding from Central Government. The proposals of Multi-tracking will ease operations and reduce congestion, providing the much required infrastructural development on the busiest sections across Indian Railways.
The projects covering 35 Districts in 9 States i.e. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by 2339 Kms. and will provide employment of 7.06 crore man-days to the people of the states.

These are essential routes for transportation of varied basket of commodities such as foodgrains, fertilizers, coal, cement, fly-ash, iron and finished steel, clinkers, crude oil, lime stone, edible oil etc. The capacity augmentation works will result in additional freight traffic of magnitude 200 MTPA (Million Tonnes Per Annum). The Railways being environment friendly and energy efficient mode of transportation, will help both in achieving climate goals and for reducing logistics cost of the country.
The projects are in line with Prime Minister’s Vision of a New India which will make people of the region “Atmanirbhar” by creating Multi-tasking work force in the region and will enhance their employment/self employment opportunities.
The projects are result of PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multi-model connectivity which have been possible through integrated planning and will provide seamless connectivity for movement of people, goods and services.

SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY CELEBRATES 77th INDEPENDENCE DAY
Kolkata, 16th August, 2023:
The 77th Independence Day was celebrated at South Eastern Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach with due solemnity. Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the ceremonial parade presented by the contingents of Railway Protection Force, Civil Defence, St. John Ambulance Brigade and Bharat Scouts & Guides. On the Independence Day, the General Manager conveyed his greetings to all.
Addressing the gathering, General Manager said that in 2022-23, S E Railway loaded 202.6 million tonnes of freight which is 3.89% more than the previous year. In the current financial year, till July, SER has loaded 66.79 million tonnes of freight which is also higher than the corresponding period of last year. Keeping in view the convenience and safety of the passengers, SER has completed the construction work of 14 Road Over Bridges and 35 Foot Over Bridges in the last financial year and upto July, 2023. General Manager stated that with a view to provide more amenities to the passengers, Platforms have been raised at 35 stations and extended at 13 stations. Apart from this, 69 important stations of South Eastern Railway have been identified for redevelopment under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Hon’ble Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of 10 Stations of SER under this scheme on 06.08.2023 he added.
Shri Mishra also stated that with a view to create additional capacity, altogether 201 KM of doubling/third line work has been completed during last financial year and upto July of the current financial year. Safety of passengers is of paramount importance and as a major step towards making the railway network free from level crossing, altogether 53 level crossings have been eliminated in the last year and upto July of the current financial year. He added that as a result of the continuous efforts of officers and staff of RPF, 1477 children have been rescued from railway premises in the last financial year and upto July of the current financial year. General Manager stated that SER has already implemented the “One Station one Product” scheme as announced in the budget of 2022-23 and there are 31 OSOP Stalls over SER jurisdiction for the welfare of local artisans, potters, weavers, tribals etc.
General Manager stated that SER celebrated “Har Ghar Tiranga” to commemorate the Independence Day. All employees of SER were associated with the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign. General Manager appealed to the employees to join hands to work for the progress of the Nation.

Today, on 16/08/2023, A Mega Blood Donation camp was organized by Town Post/KGP on the occasion of the celebration of the 77th Independence Day. The camp was inaugurated by Hon’ble DRM/KGP, Shri K R Chaudhary by cutting Ribbon in presence of Sr.DSC/RPF/KGP, ASC/WS, ASC/OL/KGP. Total 45 donors including Sr. DSC KGP donated blood voluntarily. CMS/ KGP was also present in this camp. The camp was successfully organized with the active participation from all corners.
