Kharagpur, Kharagpur College Principal Bidyut Kumar Samant handed over 150 bottles of 200 mL sanitizer to Vaibhav Chaudhary, SDO of Kharagpur today. Kharagpur College Principal Bidyut Kumar Samant told that the teachers, students and staff of the chemical department was made sanitizers in the lab keeping in mind the standards of the World Health Organization.
some teachers, students & staff were also distributed sanitizers. Principal told that the employees of the SDO office were also given a simple method of making sanitizer so that other people can also take advantage of it. SDO said that women of Self Help Group would be used in this work so that they can also benefit.
Prof. Indranil Chakraborty of the Department of Chemistry said that with the help of ethanol, glycerin and distilled water, hydrogen paraoxide can be made cheaply as a sanitizer and can add methylene blue for color, while making 100 mL will cost only Rs 72. Students who were prepared sanitizer were Suman Mukherjee, Amlan Bhattacharya, Ritam Das, Amitava Manna. After learning the method, the employees of the SDO office made sanitizers today. Due to demand and unavailability of sanitizer in the market, people are suffering.Hope this initiative will help to tackle with crisis.
