GENERAL MANAGER DEDICATES “NIRBHAYA’ SOFTWARE TO WOMEN EMPLOYEES

OF SER DURING CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Kolkata, 13th March, 2023:

International Women’s Day was celebrated by South Eastern Railway at its Headquarters, Garden Reach with great enthusiasm. Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, South Eastern Railway was the Chief Guest at the programme. Sri Atulya Sinha, Additional General Manager, Principal Head of the Departments and women employees of different departments were present on the occasion. Dr Mahua Verma, Principal Chief Personnel Officer , S E Railway welcomed the distinguished guests at the function. 53 women employees of SER were felicitated for outstanding contribution in their respective jobs in the function.

General Manager, Ms Joshi dedicated “NIRBHAYA” – a Sexual Harassment Complaint Management System software to the women employees of South Eastern Railway. Any woman employee would be able to register her complaint through NIRBHAYA , which is linked to SER Website . Protecting the privacy of the employee, the complaint will directly reach the Chairman of the Internal Complaints Committee of the concerned unit.

General Manager, Ms Archana Joshi appreciated the performance of 8,500 women employees serving all over South Eastern Railway. She also praised the awardees for their dedication, sincerity and hard work. The General Manager mentioned about the International Women’s Day 2023 Theme – “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality” and explained the significance of the campaign “Embrace Equity “. She also stated about the different initiatives taken by S E Railway for the benefit of its women employees.

A beautiful cultural programme was staged by the cultural team of Headquarters and Kharagpur division on this occasion.

POSTPONEMENT OF NON INTERLOCKING WORK IN JABALPUR DIVISION

In view of postponement of proposed Pre-Non Interlocking and Non-Interlocking work in Jabalpur Division of West Central Railway, the following train will run on normal route:-

  • 18009 Santragachi-Ajmer Express leaving Santragachi on 17.03.2023 will run on normal route.

CARDIOPULMONARY LIFE SUPPORT WORKSHOP CONDUCTED

 AT SER CENTRAL HOSPITAL GARDEN REACH

Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support (BCLS) & Comprehensive Cardiopulmonary Life Support (CCLS) Workshop was conducted by the Kolkata Society of Anaesthesiologists at Central Hospital, South Eastern Railway, Garden Reach, Kolkata on 11th and 12th March, 2023 with grand success.

 

More than 50 Doctors, nursing and paramedical staff from the SER Central Hospital and other hospitals attended the hands-on workshop and were greatly benefitted.

A brief on Mission 100% Electrification of Chakradharpur Division
Chakradharpur division is one of the four railway divisions under South Eastern
Railway zone of Indian Railways. The division was formed on 14 April 1952 and it’s
headquarter is located at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum district of the state
of Jharkhand of India. The Division serves three districts of Jharkhand (East and
West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan) and five districts of Odisha
(Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar). The main
source of income of the division is from Freight and it is one of the highest earning
Divisions out of 68 divisions of entire Indian Railways. The major components
carried by Freight Trains in this section are Coal, Iron Ore, Finished Steel,
Manganese and Limestone.
The project 100% Electrification of balanced Broad-Gauge lines of Indian Railways is
a CCEA approved project of electrification of remaining non-electrified broad gauge
(BG) routes of Indian Railways.
After completion of electrification all the track network will be 100% operational
on electric traction.
Benefits of Electrification
Safety: Improved signaling system will lead to enhanced safety in train
operation.
Capacity and speed: 100%% electrification will provide smooth train operation by
eliminating detention of trains due to change in traction.
Down time of loco: Down time of Diesel loco can be eliminated for fueling.
Energy saving and economy:
1. Cost of hauling load with Diesel traction is almost 3 to 4 times expensive
than Electric traction.
2. Regeneration facility of electric locomotives will save 15-20% energy.
3. Expenditure on maintenance Electric loco is Rs.16.45 per thousand GTKM
as compared to is Rs. 32.84 per thousand GTKM though Diesel Loco.

4. Reduced overall requirement of locomotives due to higher HP capacity
5. Average Specific Energy consumption for Electric Traction-8.82 Kwh per
1000 GTKM and for Diesel Traction and 2.5 L per 1000 GTKM for electric
and diesel traction respectively.
Environment friendly: No carbon emission and keeps the environment clean.
Financial achievement: Annual average Saving of revenue in Chakradharpur
Division with Electrification will around: Rs. 34.97 Cr.
International Recognition: Indian Railways’ Mission Electrification has won the
Best Climate Change Adaptation & Resilience at the UIC International Sustainable
Railway Awards held on 1st June 2022 in Berlin.
