43rd ALL INDIA RAILWAY WOMEN’S HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP AT RANCHI

Kolkata, 21st December, 2022:

43rd All India Railway Women’s Hockey Championship organized by South Eastern Railway Sports Association (SERSA), Ranchi Division was inaugurated at Astroturf Hockey Stadium, Hatia on 20.12.2022. Sri Atulya Sinha, Additional General Manager, South Eastern Railway was the Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony. Sri Ignace Tirkey, Ex Olympian, Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee was the guest of honour, while Sri Pradeep Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Ranchi presided over the function. The Championship will conclude on 26.12.2022.

Altogether, 8 Zonal Railways and Production Units are taking part in the Championship. The participating teams are South Eastern Railway, Northern Railway, North Central Railway, East Central Railway, Central Railway, North Eastern Railway, Western Railway and Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala).

The Legendary Women Hockey Players who are being seen in action during the championship are Vandana Katariya (Padma Shri, Arjun Awardee & Olympian), Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam (Olympian), Gurjeet Kaur (Olympian), Navneet Kaur (Olympian), Rajni Etimarpu (Olympian), Nikki Pradhan (Olympian), Salima Tete (Olympian), Neha Goyal (Olympian), Nisha Varsi (Olympian), Reena Khokhar (Olympian), Lalrem Siami (Olympian), Najot Kaur (Olympian), Renuka Yadav (Olympian), Preeti Dubey (Olympian), Feli  (Olympian) and Sangita Kumari (FIH International Women’s Hockey Championship)

In the opening match, South Eastern Railway defeated East Central Railway by 10-0.
